Nestled within the vibrant streets of Camden lies a beacon of hope and hospitality — the Scullery at Cambria House. More than just a kitchen, this visionary space is a testament to collaboration and community, born from a partnership between Cambria House, a Salvation Army Lifehouse.
The Scullery is a beacon of hope and hospitality.
Drawing inspiration from the traditional scullery—historically, a room adjacent to the kitchen dedicated to cleaning and storage—this innovative space redefines conventional expectations for such a space.
Embracing the rich heritage of the surrounding Georgian architecture, the Scullery emanates timeless elegance through its classic design elements and refined details. Yet, beneath this polished exterior lies a testament to how a commitment to sustainability and resourcefulness can also achieve sophisticated design.
Over 80% of the products and materials used in the Scullery were sourced within a 15-mile radius of the building. From reclaimed kitchen cabinets to preloved light fixtures, every element tells a story of resilience and renewal. Adẹ̀kọ́ & Co. generously took on the design of the Scullery project after visiting Cambria House in early 2023 and hearing about The Salvation Army’s plans to refurbish an area to improve residents’ engagement in activities. The design studio also absorbed the cost of construction.
